Dr. James Tong

Dr. James Tong has over thirty years of experience in advanced clinical dentistry. By combining the usage of the latest advances in technology with his gentle, comforting style of care Dr. Tong ensures healthy, beautiful smiles.

Dr. Tong earned his dental and orthodontic doctoral credentials in his native China.

He then pursued advanced education, including a specialized degree in pediatric dentistry, at the University of Maryland Dental School where he is a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor.

He and his wife, Lily, have been married for more than twenty-five years and have two children. Dr. Tong enjoys taking photographs in his free time.

Dr. Andrew Tong

Dr. Andrew Tong is a distinguished periodontist with roots in Montgomery County. Dr. Tong’s journey began under the influence of his parents, who instilled a passion for oral health from a young age. He graduated with honors from the University of Maryland College Park and continued his pursuit of excellence by earning his D.D.S degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, becoming a clinician dedicated to superior patient care. He completed a rigorous General Practice Residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, further enhancing his skills in comprehensive dental care and surgical expertise. After working in private practice with his father as a general practitioner, Dr. Tong went back to the University of Maryland to attain an advanced specialty education in Periodontics as well as a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences.

Specializing in treating and managing periodontal disease, soft and hard tissue augmentation, and implants, Dr. Tong practices using a patient-centered approach, ensuring every patient receives personalized care. Dr. Tong provides meticulous care by providing the best treatment options available to his patients while building a healthy and beautiful smile. He is fluent in English and Mandarin. Committed to advancing periodontics, Dr. Tong is an active member of multiple dental associations, including the American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration.

As Dr. Tong returns to Montgomery County, he is very excited to give back to his community and deliver high-quality care to not only help his patients smile but also improve their overall quality of life.

In his free time, Dr. Tong finds hobbies in activities like playing pickleball and going to the gym. He cherishes time with friends and family.

Dr. Sunanda Bhushan

Dr. Sunanda Bhushan has been an integral part of our dental team for over five years now. She completed her BDS in India as well as her Masters in Prosthodontics. Upon moving to the US she graduated from Boston University where she received her DMD.

Dr. Bhushan always strives for quality and perfection in both cosmetic and restorative dentistry. She enjoys working with children and adults alike!

Dr. Bhushan lives with her husband and two little boys who keep her on her toes.

Dr. Sahar Nesvaderani

Sahar Nesvaderani, DDS, MS is a talented general dentist who brings her skills and passion for esthetic dentistry to Tong Dental Care and Highlands Dental Care. Dr. Nesvaderani earned her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.

Dr. Nesvaderani holds a Master’s Degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in Public Health from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is licensed in facial esthetics, accredited by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and certified in Orofacial Pain and Trigger Point Therapy, specializing in treatments for TMJ pain, migraines, and orofacial pain.

When she is not in the office you can find her lifting weights at the gym, hiking, yoga, or enjoying the outdoors. She also enjoys cooking, painting, reading, travel, and live music and is a huge Baltimore Ravens fan.
